Like an anxiety-riddled rendition of David Essex’s Rock On, the first taste of SBTRKT’s new album creeps uneasily over sub-bass pulsation, Ezra Koenig reprising the biblical Big Apple themes of Vampy Weekend’s last LP in an accelerated rap-sing meter. It’s smoky. It’s cool as fuck. A strong indication that SBTRKT is operating on a whole ‘nother level.
