San Salvador

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

My name’s Dave, I play guitar and sing for San Salvador.

Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like ?

I haven’t really heard people liken us to many bands. Maybe The Black Seeds.

What do you love about making music?

I love the coming together of a good groove, horns, melody and good vibe, then just enjoying sitting in the pocket, taking solo’s and mucking around.

What do you hate about the music industry?

That there are some bands in the public eye that suck, but just have the right connections, when there are other bands out there who kick arse but have no money or management.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

King Tubby – the Dub master! I would ask him to edit some dub remixes of our tracks.

What can a punter expect from your live show?

A fine time all ’round! Good grooves with heavy bass and funky guitars, keys, horns with melody and three-part harmonies. Goes down well with a pint and a full dance floor.

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?

Our brand new debut album, Rugged Are The Mountains and also our pre-release single from 2010, Spark The Fire.

When’s the gig and with who?

Friday October 28 at The Evelyn Hotel with Live@Subs and IL Savant.

Anything else to add?

Rugged Are The Mountains will be released on iTunes Sat October29.
