After performing to a packed house in April 2023, The James Lockwood Trio returns to Open Studio to celebrate the musical legacy of Jazz’s most renowned Bebop composers.
Lockwood is joined by baritone saxophonist Dario Ogrin and guitarist Lee Jones to present a selection of better- and lesser-known compositions in an open and spacious format emphasising dexterous melodic interplay and deft rhythmic sophistication.
This celebration of the Bebop lineage reflects Lockwood’s deep love for the beauty and form of the Bebop composition, and features a diverse collection of works from seminal composers including Bud Powell, Lucky Thompson, Charlie Parker, Barry Harris, Fats Navarro, Gigi Gryce, and Tadd Dameron.
