RUN RUN RUN + Ze Wisenheimer

Ever-evolving Chinese psych-rockers Run Run Run make their Australian debut this November, bringing their delicious soundscapes to Trash Cult on Friday 28 November, joined by Naarm/Melbourne’s Ze Wisenheimer.

Active since 2014, Run Run Run have carved out a distinctive place in China’s independent music scene. Signed to the seminal label Maybe Mars – home to trailblazers like Carsick Cars and Birdstriking – the band have released several acclaimed albums and shared stages with icons such as Michael Rother (Neu!, Kraftwerk, Harmonia) and Gang of Four.

Over the years, Run Run Run have evolved through multiple lineups to reach their current six-piece form, with each shift marking a new chapter in their sound. True to their Velvet Underground-inspired name, their music weaves hypnotic guitar loops with sharp melodic instincts. Early releases leaned into Fall-esque post-punk energy, while their latest record, 五雷轰心掌, embraces groove-driven rhythms and traditional folk influences.

Described as “Chinese retro-pop”, this latest offering channels the cosmic cool of Khruangbin and Glass Beams, offering a mesmerising fusion of past and present that’s entirely their own.
