Revered vocalist and songwriter, Rufus Wainwright, has announced a 2019 Australian tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut self-titled album and its 2001 follow up, Poses

This year will see Wainwright kicking off his All These Poses tour in America before he heads Down Under next year with a string of shows set to take him across Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Melbourne fans will have two chances to see the musician who was dubbed “the greatest songwriter on the planet” by none other than Elton John, with Wainwright set to perform at Melbourne Zoo’s Zoo Twilights series as well as an intimate performance at Melbourne Recital Centre.

The past twenty years have seen Wainwright collaborate with the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed and Boy George as well as releasing nine studio albums, three live albums and even composing his own opera. Returning to his roots and celebrating his early work, you can bet these shows will be very special.

β€œ20 years, what can I say?” says Wainwright. β€œIn life, one stands the test of time but in music, thankfully, one reaps the rewards. Come savour a very fine vintage of songs, those were some pretty good years.”
