Sydney indie-rock duo Royel Otis will play their largest Australian venues yet on the Meet Me In The Car tour.

The unstoppable rise of Royel Otis continues as the Sydney pair announce their biggest Australian headline shows to date this October. Fresh from conquering international festival stages including Glastonbury, Governor’s Ball in New York City, Lollapalooza in Chicago and Fuji Rock in Japan, the duo are returning home to play arena-sized venues across four major cities.

The Meet Me In The Car tour follows the announcement of their sophomore album hickey, due 22 August, and comes just a year after their shimmering debut album PRATTS & PAIN swept the nation. Their meteoric rise has been nothing short of extraordinary, transforming from bedroom producers to one of Australia’s most sought-after live acts in record time.

The tour showcases just how far the band have come since their triple j Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder on The Dancefloor became a cultural phenomenon. That performance reached number one on the US Alternative Radio Chart and secured the number two spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2024, catapulting them to international recognition.

Their follow-up cover of The Cranberries’ Linger for a Sirius XM session became their first Billboard Hot 100 hit and has garnered over 220 million global streams. The duo played more than 100 sold-out shows in 2024, selling over 100,000 tickets across Australia, the UK, Europe and the US, including a homecoming show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

The upcoming album hickey represents a clear evolution for the band, described as naughty and romantic simultaneously. New single car has already been named BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, showcasing the refined yet propulsive sound that has made them one of the most effortless and endearing indie rock acts to emerge this decade.

The October tour will see Royel Otis perform at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on Friday 17 October, The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on Monday 20 October, Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Friday 24 October, and Ice Cream Factory in Perth on Wednesday 29 October. Each show promises to transform crowds into a unified, euphoric consciousness as the duo continue their mission to make people dance together.
