Mine Smell Like Honey features that sharp, convulsive marriage of guitar and melody that shaped the more upbeat songs of Green-era REM, but it’s almost like a few of those tracks have been collapsed together – it’s a messy, frenetic whack of noise. Still kind of amazing, for a bunch of dudes peddling decades-old alt rock.
