The race is an exhilarating exhibition of sheer human power that cruises by Albert Park, makes its way past Flinders Street Station and heads down the St Kilda foreshore before a dramatic finish at the MCG.

The group will be filled with everyone from famous athletes to fitness hobbyists – as the course is particularly flat, it’s perfect for first-timers. When the gun goes off at 7am, they will run a whopping 42.195km starting on Batman Avenue.

Entry has just opened for the ever-popular event. If you’re not quite up for a full marathon, don’t fret: there are other races you can take part in as well, including a half marathon, a 10km run, a 5km run and a 3km walk. The big race is only six months away, so you know what that means – it’s time to hit the gym, stock up on protein powder and get to work.
