You’d perhaps be familiar with Vinyl courtesy of their monthly pop-up at Northcote Social Club. Simply put, Vinyl sells new vinyl records, and nothing else. Most of the stock is LPs, but it’s not like they’d say no to a quality 7” or 12” single.
In recent times, the store has copped some flak for participating in Record Store Day as on online retailer. However, all that’s about to change. Even as online record stores continue to flourish, they’re taking a punt and diving in to a fully fledged bricks and mortar experience.
Now, the guys behind Vinyl Australia have some very big news, and they feel RSD is the appropriate time to announce. They’re about to open a fixed store in Fitzroy. More than a transaction-focused shop, they intend for it to be hub where music lovers can engage with one another over the shared love of music. To achieve this goal, live in-store performances will be a regular feature, as will a diverse range of records covering a mass range of genres and countries of the world.
