Q&A: The Scrapes

thescrapes.jpg

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

The Scrapes. I’m Adam Cadell violin wrangler.

Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?

People have vastly differing ideas of how we sound. Desolate and weird are common adjectives!

What do you love about making music?

Everything. It’s all I’ve ever done.

What do you hate about the music industry?

Most things. Back stabbing fools who think only of themselves, money and Facebook ‘likes’ seem to be the common order of the day.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

I would show my stuff to Ludwig Van Beethoven. His music has had a profound effect on me.

If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?

Kings of Leon. Just because they exist!

What can a punter expect from your live show?

Chaos, beauty, noise, violin bashing and guitar dooming.

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?

We have a new album out called Kali Yuga Sunrise on CD and vinyl.

When’s the gig and with who?

We have three more Melbourne gigs to go but the big one for us is our launch, Thursday December 15 at The Gasometer Hotel with Cuba Is Japan and Margins Duo. 8pm kickoff.

Anything else to add?
