Latest band adventures?
We filmed the clip to our Sunrising single at an Elwood beach car park in a beautiful green (unregistered) ’71 VG Safari stick-shift Valiant. Model Helena Vestergaard was driving, although she doesn’t have a manual license and has never driven stick shift. The photographer/producer was an unreal, eccentric German guy, who at one point was hanging off the bonnet of the moving car to get the right shot. Anyhow, on our break, one of the band members (unlicensed and who shall remain nameless) decided to give the old girl a few good laps around the car park. To no surprise, ten minutes later, not one, but two police vehicles arrive on the scene, with Helena at the wheel. Needless to say, we did a quick switcharoo and got Justin, our bass player, into the driver’s seat. The police asked us to wind down the window and, very sternly, informed us that our car was unregistered. Luckily we had been to Vic Roads and gotten a temporary rego. They asked us what we were up to, so we told them we were filming a video clip and immediately they were our best friends! They even did a drive by later on to get their cars in the clip. So all’s well that ends well. You can check out the clip on YouTube – look up Leez Lido, Sunrising.
When’s the gig and with who?
The Sunrising single launch is on Sunday April 7 at The Evelyn from 2pm ’til 5pm with Bullets In Berlin, Plastic Spaceman and The Staffords.
