Name/Band:
AXOLOTL
Define your genre in five words or less:
Lush, lyrical, epic, electronic, psychedelic.
So, someone is walking past as you guys are playing, they then go get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?
“o the hell are these guys? Shit is real!”
How long have you been gigging and writing?
Collectively over a year, but the pieces have come together from years of individual writing.
What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?
Supporting Gaslamp Killer, Robin Fox and Harmonic 313 at Roxanne Parlour over Easter this year. Racket also did an amazing 3D light show to our set. Big highlight.
Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?
Little Dragon and Portishead VS AXOLOTL, but they would definitely beat us.
What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
Collaboration is a big part of our sound, bringing the electronic beats world and the live band together. Individually members are influenced by improvised music and sample based sounds. We love textural use of sound.
What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?
Democracy and hard work!
Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?
Yes we have released our single Garden Lane and B-side Debris for free download on triplejunearthed.com/AXOLOTL. We are expecting to release our first EP next year.
Why should everyone come and see your band?
Because we’re trying to achieve something different and innovative in our live show. We’ve been rehearsing hard so we’re ready for you!
When are you playing?
Saturday December 3 at the Northcote Social Club for our single launch. Doors are 8.30pm, tickets are $10 on the door. Really excited for this one! Great support too from Saskwatch and Albert Salt.
