Cosmic Psychos headline as Punt Fest II returns for a free, three-stage celebration of the Punters Club.
Punt Fest II is bringing a free all-day party to the Punters Club in Fitzroy on 29 August. Running from 3pm to 3am across three stages, the annual celebration returns for its second edition, and entry won’t cost you a cent.
The bill is a genuinely odd mix; punk, folk, trip-hop, post-punk and DJ sets sitting on the same poster, but somehow it still just feels like a big day at Punters.
Punt Fest II is built as an annual celebration of the Brunswick Street venue, a corner pub and live music room that hosts free gigs, DJ sets, comedy and sport screenings on a walk-in basis.

Cosmic Psychos top the bill, bringing their loud, three-chord attack; the Melbourne punk band’s been at it since the early 80s and has fans well beyond Australia.
From there the lineup goes sideways fast: Exek’s dub-inflected, effects-heavy post-punk, Georgia Knight’s atmospheric autoharp-driven folk and trip-hop, Soju Gang’s genre-hopping DJ sets, and Essendon Airport’s long-running experimental weirdness (they’ve been doing this since 1978).
On paper it reads like five different festivals. In practice, it’s just Punt Fest.
The Rookies, Wrong Way Up and Lothario fill out the live side, with DJ sets from Sweetie & Friends featuring DJ Friday, Greg Sher, Lady Love Potion, Larry Quicksticks and Steely Ann. More acts are still to be announced, and there’s no ticket to buy. Entry is walk-in, all day.
