Geelong trio ORB and New Zealand duo Earth Tongue are bringing their distinctive psych-rock sounds to Brunswick Ballroom for one night only.
Brunswick Ballroom is set to host a night of underground psychedelic rock when ORB and Earth Tongue take to the stage this June. The Geelong-based psych-rock band ORB have reinvented themselves earlier this year, returning to their power trio roots with a renewed focus on improvisation. Attendees can expect a mix of new material, familiar favourites, and spontaneous on-the-spot creations from the recently revamped group.
Joining ORB will be New Zealand power duo Earth Tongue, who have been making waves internationally with their massive sound that sits somewhere between 60s Sabbath and 80s Pentagram. The duo released their album Great Haunting in 2024 on In The Red records in the USA, which led to European tours supporting Ty Segall and a relocation to Berlin, where they’re currently working on new material.

This performance represents a unique opportunity to catch two of the most interesting acts from the underground psychedelic rock scene in one venue. ORB’s recent transformation and return to improvisation promises an unpredictable and dynamic set, while Earth Tongue’s reputation for creating a surprisingly huge sound as a duo has earned them international recognition and tours.
Despite their geographical separation – with ORB hailing from Geelong and Earth Tongue now based in Berlin after relocating from New Zealand – both bands share a common thread in their psychedelic foundations and growing reputations in the underground rock scene.
For fans of experimental, heavy and psychedelic rock, this pairing offers a perfect opportunity to experience two distinctly different approaches to the genre. ORB brings their newly reinvigorated trio format with an emphasis on spontaneity, while Earth Tongue delivers their powerful, Sabbath-influenced sound that belies their two-piece setup.
