The Production Manager is a key role in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s varied operations. This position is integral to the successful delivery of MSO rehearsals and concerts, including stage management when required. Responsible for the management of all production elements for orchestral activities, this role requires a broad technical knowledge and experience, and an exceptional attention to detail. The Production Manager prepares detailed costings for the technical aspects of MSO events, and has a vital role in the occupational health and safety processes of the MSO. In addition, excellent communication skills are required to manage a broad range of internal and external relationships, including responsibility for all MSO production staff, transport carriers and external technical providers.
The successful applicant will have significant production management experience in relevant performance disciplines, as well as stage management experience. An ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team is vital, with highly developed problem solving abilities. The role requires an excellent level of physical fitness, and the applicant must be able to work rostered hours, including weekends and tours.
