I Choose You is the title track from their forthcoming album, set to be launched at this year’s Stonnington Jazz Festival.
Inspired by Golden Age jazz duets of the ’30s and ’40s, I Choose You merges classic jazz melodies with Eastern and Western instrumentation, as harmonium intertwines with piano, and English lyrics intertwine with Punjabi.
Parvyn Singh comes from a classically trained traditional Indian singing and dance background, while Hue Blanes is a jazz and classical piano player. Together, they make some even greater than the sum of their parts.
