Premiere: McDermott & North’s ‘Everytime (I’m a Little Bit Like You)’ is a dreamy, indie-pop delight

These guys should be on your radar.

Brisbane duo McDermott & North have given us an exclusive drop of their new single ‘Everytime (I’m a Little Bit Like You)’ and trust us when we say, you’re going to want to wrap your ears around this track.

Melding lush vocal harmonies with an acoustic melody and punchy hook, this is a tune that sinks its claws into your brain and makes you want to listen again and again.

Taking influence from Oasis as well as ’60s songwriters like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, McDermott & North’s pop-infused folk is both complex and easy-listening – fusing thought-provoking lyrics with a dreamy soundscape.

Drawing from the intensity of young love and the rollercoaster of emotion and uncertainty it often brings, ‘Everytime (I’m a Little Bit Like You)’ is relatable, thoughtful indie-pop at its best.

The single comes hand-in-hand with a film clip, further demonstrating the pair’s love of a bygone era with its grainy footage and retro vibe.

Coming on the back of 2018’s The Lemon Tapes, a five-track EP featuring triple j favourite ‘Broken Girl’, ‘Everytime (I’m a Little Bit Like You)’ looks to be another rung in McDermott & North’s rise.

Give it a spin below.
