Fund the firies.
A bunch of Aussie musicians, artists and celebrities are teaming up to raise funds for the firefighter associations currently facing the New South Wales bushfires.
Spread across two days in Byron Bay, the Make It Rain fundraiser will be supporting the NSW Rural Fire Service Northern Rivers and Far North Coast brigades. The event lineup includes Bernard Fanning and Ian Haug, Wolfmother, Tex Perkins and The Loose Rubber Band, ARC and more. Perkins was directly influenced by the bushfires currently ravaging parts of the state.
“A small bushfire in the national park near where I live quickly became a 2,000 hectare blaze, it’s now over 6,000 hectares and growing,” he said.
“We evacuated our animals, children and prepared as best we could. The fire still burns but we’ve been lucky… so far.”
If you can’t make the trip to Byron, an online auction opens today with goodies donated by Chris Hemsworth and Elsy Pataky, Archibald prize winner Ben Quilty, surfers Stephanie Gilmore, Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning, Powderfinger, Pat Rafter and other Aussie legends. Bidding closes in a month.
Make It Rain takes place at The Beach Hotel in Byron Bay between Wednesday January 8 and Thursday January 9. Tickets are on sale now via the event website.
