Port Phillip to introduce musician loading zones

The Port Phillip Council has announced a new class of parking permit to allow musicians to leave their cars in loading zones outside music venues while they load and unload equipment. The push comes from the local music community, with the Acting Mayor Dick Gross taking action on the suggestion.

Being that Melbourne is the live music capital, it makes sense to bring in something that allows musicians to make it on stage with all their gear. Individual music venues will need to apply for the Musician Loading Permit, which can be used in whatever vehicle you’ll be using to transport your set-up to and from your venue.

Fees for the permit and a rollout date are yet to be announced, stay tuned for more details.
