Play on the Plains festival has been cancelled

Play On The Plains

Play on the Plains festival was due to feature big name talent Jessica Mauboy alongside established and emerging artists King Stingray, Northeast Party House, Alex Lahey and Carp Factory.

In a blow to the Australian festival circuit, regional music festival Play on the Plains has cancelled its upcoming March event.

In a statement released today, organisers advised that Play on the Plains scheduled to take place in Deniliquin on Saturday, 11 March 2023 will not be proceeding.

Play on the Plains is a community-run, Not For Profit event which would have had its 3rd iteration in 2023 at the home to the famous Deni Ute Muster, but due to poor ticket sales, it is not viable for the organisation to continue and suffer a financial loss.

“Play on the Plains is such a great event and we’ve been committed to getting it off the ground, but the numbers are just not there. On behalf of the Board, staff and artists who have done everything possible to drive ticket sales, we must be realistic and cancel at this point,” says Chairman Russell Tait.

General Manager, Vicky Lowry added, “We’d like to thank all the suppliers, artists, staff and volunteers who have worked so hard over the past three years to make Play on the Plains the wonderful party it’s been and, hopefully, we’ll be able to play again sometime down the track.”

All ticketholders will be contacted directly and will receive a full, 100% refund of their purchase price.
