Name/Band:
“Planet Love Sound (P L S).”
Define your genre in five words or less:
“Dark folk mood-ster electronic rock.”
What do think people say you sound like?
“PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Kate Bush.”
How long have you been gigging and writing?
“We started playing shows in September 2010 in Berlin as a three-piece. We’ve been writing/recording together since 2009.”
What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?
“In November 2010 we were lucky enough to support US band, Warpaint, at their sold out show in Berlin. It was our third or fourth gig ever, so it was a little intimidating; but we learnt a lot from those guys – they are a really incredible live act.”
Which band would you most like to either have a battle/showdown with, or simply play a show with?
“Oscar: Van Halen (the version with David Lee Roth). Tina: A tribe of native American elders. Joe: Young Magic.”
What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
“We’ve been in Melbourne for the last five months and there is such an incredible local music scene here, which has been super-inspiring.”
In playing shows, or even simply heading out in general, how do you plan on getting home safely?
“Bike is preferred or public transport. Tina (at the glorius age of 23) learnt how to ride a bike last year at Tempelhof Airport (an ex Nazi-built airport) in Berlin.”
What do you think about the idea of the ‘designated driver’, or loading into a taxi, to get home after a show?
“If we’re playing a show in Melbourne and we have a bunch of gear we usually have a designated driver or two. Anywhere else, we usually just jump in a cab.”
Do you have any releases to date? What? Where can I get it? Is it good?
“We have just recently released our debut single called On The Run. You can download it for free from our website ( planetlovesound.com) for free or buy a limited edition physical copy (which has a bonus track also). We’ll be releasing our debut album later on in the year.”
Why should everyone come and see your band?
“How long is a piece of string?”
When and where are you playing next?
“Stockholm in June.”
Parting words?
“See you next summer.”
