From there, he has embarked on an unrivalled production and solo career spanning two decades, seeing him produce iconic records for Run DMC, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Ghostface Killah and Redman to name a few. He is credited as playing a major role in merging elements of jazz and funk into hip hop music, and has most recently been brought back into rap’s consciousness with his production on Jay-Z & Kanye West’s Watch The Throne project.
