The award will be presented at the APRA Music Awards on Tuesday June 21.

The nominees for the APRA Music Awards including Song Of The Year (which is peer-voted) will be announced next Thursday May 26.

Ted Albert was a giant of the Australian music industry and a great champion of Australian music. Each year the APRA Board honours Ted’s memory by conferring an award on someone who has contributed immensely to Australian music. It is difficult to think of an Australian musician or songwriter of the past 30 years who has crafted more distinctly Australian music, with as much univeral appeal, as Paul Kelly. Paul embodies every attribute and acheivement that the Ted Albert Award seeks to recognise,” said APRA|AMCOS CEO, Brett Cottle.

Other categories in the awards include Song Of The Year, Most Played Australian Work, Most Played Australian Work Overseas, International Work Of The Year, Country Work Of The Year, Blues & Roots Work Of The Year, Blues & Roots Work Of The Year, Urban Work Of The Year, Dance Work Of The Year, Rock Work Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year and Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year.
