Ozzy Osbourne pulls out of Download Festival Australia due to ill health

Aussie hard rockers Airbourne will take his place.

Ozzy Osbourne has been forced to pull out of headlining Download Festival Australia following doctor’s orders. His exit from the Download Japan lineup was announced earlier this afternoon on Tuesday February 19.

“Ozzy recently developed pneumonia and has spent some time in hospital. Thankfully he is now through the worst part, his doctors have advised that he stay at home to recuperate for a full six weeks with no travel,” Sharon Osbourne said in a statement.

In place of Download’s headlining act, Aussie hard rock outfit Airbourne will be leading the charge. Their fourth studio album, Breakin’ Outta Hell, was released in 2016.

Osbourne was hospitalised with the flu and respiratory infection in January. In a statement on Tuesday January 29, the UK and European leg of his No More Tours 2 circuit was postponed out of fear his illness could escalate.

Last week, it was reported he was out of intensive care and breathing on his own with the help of a ventilator.

Ticketholders will need to request a refund from Ticketmaster if they no longer wish to head to Download.
