Who are we chatting to?  My name’s Owen Rabbit. I play synthesizers, keyboards, guitars and percussion and I sing through a loop pedal.

What do you reckon people will say you sound like? Some people have said I sound like M83. That’s a fair cop.

What do you love about making music? For me, writing music is like talking in a separate, special language for all the things I can’t say with words.

What do you hate about the music industry? I don’t think I hate anything about the music industry. I could make a suggestion though. Beethoven and Mozart were employed by the state to create beauty. If I were to dream of a Utopia for the music industry, it would be an Australia in which the government were stewards of good art for good art’s sake and the talents of great musicians were not shackled to and spoiled by the indifference of modern life. In other words, give me money.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why? David Byrne. Though he’s not dead yet so I could probably show him my stuff sans time machine. David Byrne is a magical, one in a million brain and Remain in Light is such an intelligent album.

What can a punter expect from your live show? I build the songs live on stage with my loop pedal and I get the audience involved in the music. Hopefully the punter can expect to have a nice time.

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise? I have a 6’ vinyl single, and some EPs that I’ll be selling at my show.
