This event is part of the 2024 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
The Australian Jazz Museum was established in 1996 and is dedicated to the collection of anything and everything related to Australian jazz, Australians playing jazz globally, and non-Australians playing jazz in Australia.
The collection includes Australian jazz materials from the 1920s through to the present, covering all eras and all types of jazz. Museum volunteers have curated over 70,000 recordings, videos, posters, photographs, diaries and interviews. Highlights of the collection include instruments used by Australian masters of the genre, including Graeme Bell’s Piano and Ade Monsbourgh’s plastic alto saxophone.
96.5 Inner FM will broadcast live from the museum (10:00AM – 1:00PM), featuring a playlist of Australian jazz chosen by listeners for the day.
Small group tours of the museum will be offered.
