Melbourne guitar pop outfit Quivers are returning to Naarm, celebrating the launch of their third album Oyster Cuts.
Consisting of Sam Nicholson [guitars], Bella Quinlan [bass], Michael Panton [guitars], and Holly Thomas [drums], Quivers is that perfect mix of the old and the new.
The band blends their nostalgic love for ’80s and ’90s rock with a modern pop sensibility, as ethereal and dreamy as they are quintessentially Australian. The vocal melodies in particular from both Sam and now Bella evoke the kind of exquisite harmonies of the Pretenders and Galaxie 500.

Having recently emerged globally on the iconic label Merge (Destroyer, The Mountain Goats, Arcade Fire) with an international tour across North America and Europe to boot, Quivers returns to their home in Melbourne.
Their newest album Oyster Cuts is a celebration of this development as a band. It’s cathartic, sunshine pop with a dark edge, with lead singles such as Apparitions and Pink Smoke, exuding this sound. The album delves into grief and the kind of strength needed to escape it, with their signature twin guitars and flowing tape loops.
This Corner Hotel stopover is part of a broader tour, with the band touching down in regional Victoria’s Ballarat, Castlemaine, Kyneton and other major cities.
Quivers will be supported by Melbourne group The Mirrors who draw from the world of ’80s post-punk bands such as New Order or the Psychedelic Furs. They are a nostalgic pop-rock outfit, full of personal melancholy and a dreamy sound.
Also supporting Quivers is Tamara & The Dreams. Formed from the imagination of Tamara Reichman, this band encapsulates a new kind of indie pop. Think artists like Mitski, Courtney Barnett and Alvvays, with Tamara capturing the modern feelings of Gen-Z with a fresh pop style.
