Words by Lucas Radbourne

Ocean Sounds Festival will take place on Churchill Island and feature the likes of The Teskey Brothers and Pierce Brothers.

The full Ocean Sounds Festival lineup for Saturday 8 January has dropped and the festival organisers are promising “picnic rugs, smiling friends, stunning local wines, gourmet food, the summer-sun softly setting over the ocean and some of Australia’s most amazing live music.”

Ocean Sounds will take place on Churchill Island, just off Phillip Island, and in its third iteration is a family-friendly, music-lovers’ all-day sunset concert, bolstered by local wines and gourmet food.

First release tickets have already officially sold out, while organisers say second release tickets are selling quickly.

2020 was a huge debut year for rising music star Kee’ahn. Releasing her debut single in the middle of the Covid lockdown in late May 2020 was always going to be a challenge but this songstress from the tropics of Far North QLD rose to the occasion and surpassed all expectations with her soulful track Better Things.

Meanwhile, Steph Strings is a multi-instrumentalist who tells a story through her music.  With influences from the John Butler Trio, Tash Sultana and Ziggy Alberts, this multi-instrumentalist entails bursts of percussion alongside Celtic, blues and coastal fingerstyle indie-rock.

The festival is run by the folks behind The Hills Are Alive and NYE on the Hill Festivals.
