The long-awaited gem is set to be unveiled soon.
The wait is almost over for Northsiders who are eager to see the finished Northcote Aquatic Recreation Centre (NARC) in all of its glory. The facility, scheduled to open later this year, has announced a series of events called the Big Warm Up which will showcase the new space to local residents before the grand opening.
They will be hosting a free Breakfast of Champions series for Darebin commuters, LGBT+ friendly aqua aerobics sessions, Sensory Sensitive swimming days and a pre-opening day parade along the Northcote section of High St.

To get your hands on some free coffee, chia pudding, fruit and muffins from the kind NARC team, head to Northcote station on August 10, Bell station on August 15 or Alphington station on August 24.

Clublinks, the management team behind the facility, will also be bringing in local sports teams to be a part of these opening events.
“The Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre will be a true neighbourhood hub, in which all members of the community feel welcomed,” says Clublinks CEO Anthony Lawrence. “The Big Warm-Up is just the start of our commitment to creating a vibrant, dynamic and diverse series of events and programming to welcome everyone to the centre.”
In its completed form, the facility will feature an Olympic-sized heated outdoor lap pool, a 25-meter indoor pool, a warm pool, a kids pool with aquatic play areas, and a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
Inside the recreation centre, there will be a large fitness centre, multi-purpose rooms for yoga and reformer pilates, private consulting rooms for fitness professionals and a cafe to grab post-workout snacks.
