After a 13-year hiatus the best High Street festival in Melbourne is returning to Northcote on Sunday 18 February, 2024.

Northcote Rise is a precinct stretching from James Street to Robb’s Parade. The family-friendly festival features local artists, outdoor dining and bars from local restaurants, mini stages, and stalls from local traders.

Northcote’s High Street is getting its own street festival

Northcote Rise festival was formally launched at the Northcote Social Club today. The Victorian government is helping the festival go ahead with a $450,000 grant for the family-friendly event that will bring people together and give a boost to local traders in the precinct.

Kat Theophanous MP, State Member for Northcote says, “High Street Northcote is an iconic destination with so much to offer. This festival will bring people together to celebrate our unique small businesses, hospitality, music and arts scene – and give a much-needed boost to our local economy.”

The Darebin Mayor, Julie Williams says, “Darebin council is proud to support the Northcote Rise Festival and the exceptional local businesses that will bring people from all over to connect and share their love for High Street Northcote, as it comes alive in February”.

With activities for people of all ages the Northcote Rise Festival is a must-attend event for locals and the broader Melbourne community and will give local businesses a boost and stimulate the local economy.

The Rise is home to Northcote’s colourful and vibrant business community that aims to bring people together from far and wide to explore Northcote and its diverse offerings.

The Northcote Rise is host to bars and live music venues including the Northcote Social Club and the Peacock Inn Hotel, brunch spots such as Poke the Bear and the Black Waffle and lunch spots such as Lambs, Tao Dumplings and Pho Bang Bang.

The Northcote Rise Festival is managed by the Northcote Business Association who are a volunteer led organisation with a mission to bring people from all over to connect and share their love of High Street Northcote.

They are dedicated to supporting the enterprise and growth of the raw talent in their community ensuring that Northcote is a safe place with a fair and prosperous future. It’s this ethos that is responsible for the revival of the Northcote Rise Festival.

Northcote Rise President, Andrew Mansfield states the importance of the events to locals.
