No Typewriters / No Talking invites you to our February 2026 session hosted in partnership with our dear friends Story Studios Australia.
Writers of any stage, genre, format, or style are invited to come work together for one hour in the inspirational backdrop of Carlton’s very own writing space run by writers for writers.
You can write with anything: biro on notepad, fingers on laptop — just not a gosh darn typewriter.
During the hour of writing there is no talking. Coming together for one hour of shared sustained silence is a simple ritual that will help us concentrate on the thing we want to do (but find many reasons not to), write.
Doors open at 10:00 AM
Once you move into the writing space there is no talking.
Silent writing will start at 10:30 AM
Please note: there will be typewriters in the space, and while use of them will expressly be prohibited, if the mere presence of one is triggering to you, you may want to consider whether you can stomach being in such close physical proximity to one.
