Nick Cave and Warren Ellis announce concert with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

Revisiting the impressive body of film scores composed by the Bad Seeds members.

Bad Seeds members Nick Cave and Warren Ellis will be performing works from their vast catalogue of film scores alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra later this year.

As part of the Melbourne International Film Festival, the MSO will be bringing to life tracks from The Proposition, The Road, Hell or High Water and many more of Cave and Ellis’ soundtracks. Outside of their Bad Seeds duties, Cave and Ellis have been composing film scores for the past 15 years, dabbling in both Hollywood and indie movies.

It comes as no surprise that the underlying themes of Cave and Ellis’ works tend to be fairly chilling, considering their more mainstream creations. Their work for the 2009 film The Road was musically simple, yet powerfully effective in describing the film’s dystopian setting.
