NSW-based national booking agency Select Music has added Eagle And The Worm and Apes to its roster. The seven-piece Eagle And The Worm toured nationally with Ball Park Music earlier this year. while Apes are riding high on their June-released debut EP which includes the triple j-loved Seven and Helluva Time.
Harmony landed a deal with Fitzroy-based Poison City Records which will release their second album Carpetbombing early in 2014. Hardcore merchants Iron Mind are now with Resist Records. The band, who formed in 2006, are set to follow up their 2011 debut Hell Split Wide Open. They moved into a cabin in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges with Melbourne producer Mike Deslandes (Blkout, Robotosaurus, Coerce, Lead Sketch Union, Confession) at the helm.
The Cat Empire’s Ollie McGill will have his published works administered worldwide by Alberts, the company which signed AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and The Angels way back when. McGill is well known for his songs with TCE. But his jingles work are also causing waves. He was responsible for Melbourne Metro’s campaign Dumb Ways To Die to make young people more careful around trains. The video has now clocked up over 58 million views on YouTube while the radio version ad won the Golden Siren at the Commercial Radio Australia Awards and took an astounding 28 wins at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
Singer songwriter Eden Mulholland signed a management partnership with Brisbane-based label Footstomp, which was set up by Big Sound programmer Graham Ashton. Mullholland, who arrived in Melbourne from New Zealand in 2009, released his album Feed The Beast in June. He heads to New York next month to whip up interest in America. Signed to Mushroom Music, he is also a member of the band Motocade.
