Neo soul and funk collective Jungle are playing at The Palais this month

Irresistibly joyful and infectiously fun, Jungle are appearing in Melbourne for a Splendour in the Grass sideshow.

Their latest album Loving in Stereo, released in August of last year, remains a soulful disco record for the post-social distancing age.

A British electronic music project founded by producers and life-long friends Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, they have since expanded to a seven piece band for touring purposes. Having amassed almost a billion streams over their career, their self-titled debut album Jungle was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2014.

Their 2018 follow-up For Ever landed them in the UK Top 10 chart and they’ve performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as having appeared at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

With their single ‘Heavy, California’ being used to open the Apple September event and their single ‘Beat 54’ being featured in FIFA 19, they’ve racked up some pretty hectic commercial success.

But the band are far from sell outs – known for their energetic, innovative and inspired music videos directed by Jungle’s own Josh Lloyd Watson, their one-shot dance videos are a beacon of creativity.

Their 2014 song ‘Busy Earnin’’ was present in FIFA 15, as well as having other appearances in television shows and other media, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and a scene in German television series Tatort. But most importantly – it was voted in at number 67 in the 2014 triple j Hottest 100 Countdown.
