Fearless Movement tour brings sax virtuoso back to Australian shores this June with local jazz prodigy in tow.

Grammy-nominated jazz revolutionary Kamasi Washington is packing his horns for a triumphant return to Australia, with an exclusive Melbourne headline show locked in at the Palais Theatre this June.

The spiritual successor to Coltrane will bring his boundary-shattering live show to our shores for a limited run of dates across the east coast, giving jazz heads and musical thrill-seekers the chance to witness one of modern music’s most vital voices in the flesh.

The towering saxophonist, composer and bandleader has cemented himself as the face of contemporary jazz’s resurgence, with his three landmark releases – The Epic, Harmony of Difference and Heaven and Earth – standing as some of the most acclaimed musical works of this century.

Washington’s musical fingerprints can be found across the contemporary music landscape, having collaborated with everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Florence + the Machine and jazz legend Herbie Hancock (with whom he’s co-curating the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Fest for the second consecutive year).

Local jazz enthusiasts are in for an added treat with rising Australian talent Micah Heathwood confirmed as special guest for the Melbourne and Sydney dates. While still flying under the mainstream radar, Heathwood has built serious buzz in underground jazz circles for his innovative approach that blends traditional jazz drumming with electronic elements.

The Melbourne show forms part of Washington’s wider Australian tour, which includes twin dates at Sydney’s Carriageworks as part of Vivid Sydney (June 8-9) and a Brisbane performance at QPAC Concert Hall for Open Season (June 12).

For those looking to secure their spot at what promises to be one of 2025’s most transcendent musical experiences, Live Nation presales kick off at 9am Wednesday, March 26 for 24 hours, with general tickets dropping Thursday, March 27 at 10 am.
