A fascinating installation where love, curiosity and creativity meet. Mulberry Hill, the home that Joan Lindsay shared with her husband Daryl Lindsay.
‘My Day of Days’ is an ode to Joan Lindsay’s intimate connection with Valentine’s Day. Displayed at their Langwarrin South home, the installation will showcase Joan’s cherished Valentine’s Day cards.
Valentine’s Day held a profound significance in Joan’s life. It was not only the date she married Daryl Lindsay, but the day of the fateful picnic in her classic novel Picnic at Hanging Rock. Joan was known for paying little attention to dates, but the 14th of February was one she never forgot.
Joan called Valentine’s Day her ‘day of days,’ as it intertwines family, marriage, and her creative practice.
Joan and Sir Daryl Lindsay’s marriage was seen as a union of two creative minds having both hailed from artistic families. In the years following their marriage, Joan dedicated herself to writing and producing what would be one of the most iconic examples of Australian literature.
