What happens when you combine a wine tour with a music festival?

Grapevine Gathering, that’s what. Taking place in some of the most picturesque settings in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, the event gives visitors the chance to indulge in a luxurious and laidback weekend of fine local wine and cruisy music.

This year the festival is offering guests a cheaper and easier way to grab tickets with friends. Australian-owned payment service Backpocket lets friends pay in groups without all the fuss of awkward money transfers or annoying math.

As one of the first Aussie music festivals to offer Backpocket payments, they’re giving an exclusive discount to buyers who use the service. Simply book tickets for you and your crew, click the Backpocket option, toss the link in the group chat and your pals will have a week to pay.

Backpocket allows you to secure tickets for your whole group while only paying for your own ticket upfront, meaning you won’t have to deal with the financial burden of a massive lump payment.

After you’ve locked down those tix, the rest is a breeze. Hop on a transfer shuttle from Melbourne, Ringwood or Lilydale and head on out to the Yarra Valley. This year’s event will be held at Rochford Wines, a stunning, 13-hectare outdoor space with a 12,000-capacity outdoor amphitheatre.

Get lost in the crowd dancing to local and international acts including Spacey Jane, The Wombats, Hayden James and King Stingray, then take a break from the music and wander through the vines, soaking in the serene atmosphere.

And of course, there will be plenty of wines to sample. Don your sommelier suit and sample crisp chardonnays, cool climate pinot noirs, full-bodied shirazs and all the rest of it. You’ll have the whole day to drink your way through some of the Yarra Valley’s finest drops and munch on locally sourced snacks including wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers and slow-cooked delights.

After kicking off in Victoria, the festival will travel to other wine epicentres across the country. For the most simple and streamlined way to grab tickets, keep an eye out for Backpocket – the word on the street is it’ll soon be available at many other Australian events.
