New single If I’m With You channels pure 1990s nostalgia, dreaming of an era when vintage cars were affordable, phones stayed out of gigs, and punters hit live music venues four nights a week. Drawing inspiration from the shimmering melodies of 1980s acts The Go-Go’s and The Bangles while embracing the sharp edge of early ’90s power-pop heroes Matthew Sweet and Elvis Costello, the track signals a shift from soul, electro-pop and disco into full indie-rock territory.
Shot at Melbourne’s iconic Forum Theatre, the official video sees Murray Cook and Lizzie racing through Hosier Lane’s graffiti-covered walls in search of a portal to the perfect night. Classic grunge imagery peppers the clip, with a Kurt Cobain mural serving as the gateway that pulls them into a crowd lost in the music.
