MTC’s ‘John’ explores a horror story in the wake of US Civil War

Directed by MTC Associate Director Sarah Goodes, John investigates the tale of a young couple, Jenny and Elias, who arrive at a haunted bed and breakfast run by the psychologically debilitated Mertis Graven.

The strange ornaments and house knick knacks seem odd at first, then they meet Mertis’ blind and eccentric friend Genevieve, who terrifies and petrifies.

The piece is written by multi award-winning American playwright Annie Baker, whose best work includes Circle Mirror Transformation, The Flick, The Aliens and Body Awareness.
