Mt Buller is getting five new mountain biking trails, designed for everyone from families tackling their first ride to gravity-chasers hunting serious air time.
Construction kicks off on 10 kilometres of fresh single-track at Mt Buller thanks to the Victorian government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund, expanding Mt Buller’s already impressive 60-kilometre network.
Two beginner-friendly options will ease newcomers into the sport, while three gravity trails promise the kind of descents and jumps that’ll make experienced riders grin. Better connectivity across the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling trail network means smoother access between Alpine Resorts, and many trails will take more than a day to complete, giving Melburnians a solid excuse for a weekend escape to the High Country.

Expected to draw over 5000 summer visitors annually, the new trails are projected to generate $5.2 million for the Victorian economy each year while supporting 52 full-time jobs. Construction wraps in April 2026, landing just in time for Easter adventures.
Mt Buller hosted the National Mountain Biking Championships this year, bringing in more than 4000 visitors. With the 2026 championships locked in and an expanded trail network on the way, more high-profile events are likely to follow.
Alpine Resorts across Victoria contribute over $2 billion annually to the economy and support more than 12,000 full-time jobs. Alpine Resorts Victoria is partnering on the project to integrate the trails with existing infrastructure.
Whether you’re after family-friendly cruising or gravity-defying descents, Mt Buller’s expanded network gives Melbourne riders a decent reason to swap the city for the mountains.
