MSO team up with HVSH, Ag Johnson and more for Summer Symphony in the suburbs

MSO - AG Johnson

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are teaming up with awesome local artists to bring their summer symphony series to the suburbs.

MSO’s day-tripping out of the city and into Melbourne suburbia to put on four shows, two in Wyndham and two in Narre Warren, with a program that combines their orchestral expertise with local artists from that area.

It was an idea first actioned successfully in 2021 and it provides a unique opportunity for cross-cultural collaboration outside of inner Melbourne. The MSO is partnering with artist development platform GRID Series in Melbourne’s west, and diverse Victorian artist platform Sangam in the eastern suburbs.

The concerts will feature music from Aaron Copland, Astor Piazzolla and Johann Strauss II, alongside contemporary classics.

“Summer Symphony is as much about engaging with local communities as it is about delivering a relaxed family-friendly concert,’ said MSO Artistic Advisor, Matthey Hoy.

“In the City of Wyndham, we have partnered with GRID Series, an artist development program led by Ayesha Mehta and Ariel Blum, which supports outer suburban emerging creatives across Australia. Four dynamic and diverse artists from Melbourne’s west – Ag Johnson, ELAURA, Nomad and HVSH – will share the stage with the MSO for a collaborative performance.”
