After releasing an extended version of Aromanticism track ‘Make Out in My Car’, Moses Sumney is back with an EP full of reimaginnings. Titled Make Out in My Car: Chameleon Suite, the EP showcases interpretations from Alex Isley, James Blake and Sufjan Stevens plus Sumney’s own extended version. Each take gives a different perspective on the song with duets, remixes, new vocals, and new songs using the original’s elements play one after another.
Sumney’s voice is both silky and melancholy and Sumney takes advantage of this, mixing classic tropes, choirs and jazz favourites. His 2017 debut album Aromanticism got amazing critical reviews from NPR, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone making the album one of the best of last year. The album led Sumney on tour where he not only performed at Laneway festival, but sold out the Sydney Opera House for a gig too.
He emerged onto the scene in 2014 with a self-released cassette Mid-City Island. Since then he’s received praise, recorded new tracks and performed at festivals with the likes of David Byrne, Karen O, Sufjan Stevens and Solange.
Sumney’s wild ride continues with performances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork Music Festival, Montreux Jazz and Way Out West.
