Last week, Council voted to sign a five-year deal with a concert promoter.

The idea of holding shows there came from Michael Gudinski, who has a country retreat in the area, and wanted something picturesque like Red Rocks in America where U2, John Butler Trio and Mumford & Sons recorded videos.

Through Gudinski’s Frontier Touring, a trial began three years ago. An economic impact study by Council found that Springsteen’s two shows, which drew 34,000, injected $9.7 million, and Stewart’s about $2.3 million. In the study, businesses and residents voted overwhelmingly  for concerts.
