Bold, brash and beautiful.
Look, there’s nothing wrong with a simple, understated piece of artwork, but that’s not what you’re going to find here. Art Lovers Australia‘s latest exhibition indulges in eye-catching colours, patterns and shapes in true maximalist form.
Opening with a free launch party on August 19, More is More will showcase bright and vibrant multi-media works from a range of talented Australian artists.

This collection of over-the-top art pieces is not for the faint of heart. Some of the highlights include Karen Chappelow’s zingy acrylic paintings, Meli Axford‘s hyper-optimistic oil paintings and Darren King‘s pop art inspired collages.
“I just focused on the fun, odd stuff for this and completed six brand newies just for the occasion,” said King in a social media statement.

After much anticipation, the Collingwood gallery opened in 2021. It now showcases Australian artists in all different forms and mediums, with rolling exhibitions on throughout the year.
Its most recent past exhibition, Colour Spectrum, was centred around pieces that put colour at the forefront, from subtle varieties of tone and hue to noisy, clashing colour palettes.
Only those who can make it to Melbourne will have the opportunity to explore the gallery, but all of the pieces will be available for display and purchase online as well.
