The funky, soulful groove of Can’t Stop The Funk is the first single from Mister Co.’s upcoming Homegrown EP, a five-track celebration of Melbourne’s rich, independent music scene. Known for their ability to blend genres effortlessly, Mister Co. has once again created a track that moves beyond the ordinary, making sure to not only get you moving but feel every beat along the way.

“From the moment we hit the studio with Jonathan, we knew this track was going to be something special,” says Mister Co. “It’s bold and fresh – while still paying homage to the greats of the genre… This is definitely the type of track that demands to be felt, not just heard.”

With its pulsing rhythms and vibrant energy, Can’t Stop The Funk brings together funk, soul, and irresistible grooves that keep the party going. The collaboration with Jonathan Bufalino and Free Parking bring the tune to new depths; high-energy and fun on all sides.

The single’s accompanying music video is just as dynamic, offering a live performance experience filled with colour, movement, and raw energy. If that wasn’t enough, fans will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse at the creation of the track through the ‘Can’t Stop The Funk’ documentary, providing an authentic look at how this collaboration came to life.

But ‘Can’t Stop The Funk is just the beginning. The single is a preview of what’s to come with the Homegrown EP, which will feature collaborations with over 60 artists and musicians from Melbourne’s independent and developing music scene. Homegrown is not just an EP – it’s a movement that highlights the talent and diversity of Melbourne’s live music community, with contributions from emerging voices who are making waves in the local scene.

“I love the idea of showcasing Melbourne’s talent – there’s so much going on here, and so many incredible artists,” says Oscar. “The Homegrown EP is a chance to shine a light on the people that are pushing the boundaries of music in this city. It’s all about giving a platform to those who are creating something unique.”

To celebrate the release of Homegrown, Mister Co. is hosting the Homegrown Mini-Festival at Melbourne icon, The Corner on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The event will feature live sets from all the EP’s collaborators, plus a vinyl DJ spinning timeless classics, all under one roof. This immersive experience will bring the EP’s raw energy to life, offering fans an unforgettable night of live music that embodies Melbourne’s creative pulse.

After a year of explosive growth, including a sold-out debut album launch at The Night Cat and a successful East Coast tour, Mister Co. is gearing up for another jam-packed year. Their high-octane live show will be taking centre stage at major festivals and events throughout 2025, including a performance at the upcoming Moonee Valley Twilight Festival supporting Sneaky Sound System.

With fresh collaborations, a bold new vision, and a deep commitment to supporting the Melbourne music scene, Mister Co. is showing no signs of slowing down. Can’t Stop The Funk drops today, Friday 21 March and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
