Melbourne CBD's rooftop dining spot calls it quits after less than a year, but a new Mediterranean concept is lined up for December.
Mid Air Melbourne dished up its final service last Sunday at HYDE Melbourne Place before shutting shop permanently.
The rooftop dining spot calls it quits after less than a year, having only opened in November 2024 on the 12th floor of the boutique hotel precinct.

The venue gets gutted and rebuilt with warm tones, long communal tables, generous dining spaces and a fresh Eastern Mediterranean-inspired menu built for all-day grazing.

Mid Air carved out its spot in Melbourne’s hospitality scene pretty quickly with those sweeping city views framed through its signature twin eye-shaped windows. General Manager Jodi Brown says Cleo will pack bold flavours and lively energy while mixing Eastern Mediterranean-style hospitality with Melbourne’s creative edge.
HYDE Melbourne Place runs as a boutique hotel precinct within the global Ennismore portfolio, with Cleo marking their first signature restaurant concept by Carte Blanched. Carmen Tomasic from Ennismore’s Pacific operations says the opening taps into Melbourne’s constantly shifting dining scene.
Venue overhaul brings in a new head chef to create generous spaces that showcase Eastern Mediterranean flavours for Melbourne diners. Cleo reckons it’ll become one of the city’s most anticipated restaurant openings, bringing old-world cooking techniques to a modern rooftop setting right in Melbourne’s heart.
Opening kicks off a fresh chapter for the HYDE Melbourne Place precinct, swapping Mid Air Melbourne Portuguese for Eastern Mediterranean-focused hospitality that’s all about generosity and communal dining vibes.
