It’s the final Tightarse Tuesday at the festival, with cut price tickets available for many acts on at the festival tonight. Big names on tonight for next to nix include Josie LongMel ButtleSammy J and The Pajama Men. For full details of all of today’s shows, check the Comedy Festival website.

Despite it being the last week of the festival, several shows are starting their festival runs tonight. Amongst the shows to look out for kicking off tonight: Three High AcrobaticsKnock Off from 7pm at the Wonderland Spiegelent in Docklands, Copernicus The Wizard appears in Magic! – 8pm at Dane Certificate’s Magic Tricks, Gags & Theatre, Craig Hill – Jock’s Trap starts 8.45pm at the Famous Spiegeltent, and Margaret Cho appears in Mother, 9pm at the RMIT Capitol Theatre. Starting later this week: Eddie IfftRoss Noble and Jack Dee.

BONUS SHOWS: If you thought you’ve missed out on a chance to see Dave ThorntonHannah Gadsby or Tom Gleeson don’t panic – the three have added extra shows this weekend to cope with demand. Thornton and Gleeson will do late night Saturday shows – 11pm at the Victoria Hotel and the Town Hall respectively, Gadsby performing an early show – 4.30pm Sunday at the Town Hall. Tickets for all three shows are available on Ticketmaster, and a full list of bonus shows is available on this past Sunday’s episode of MICF Daily.

POP-UP SHOWS: Yet another unofficial show will be on during the festival – a special MICF edition of Bazaar Tales. The monthly storytelling show will return tonight to tell stories on one central theme, with the theme this time being Embarrassment. See the show 8pm tonight at Horse Bazaar, 397 Little Lonsdale Street in the city.

Much fuss has been made about Tracy Morgan‘s performances, which took place at the festival on Saturday night. Twitter was flooded with complaints about the 30 Rock star’s stand-up show, which ran for 45 minutes and saw many audience members walk out mid-show, claiming the show contained extreme misogyny. Morgan, who has finished his MICF run will perform in Perth tonight, however women’s rights campaigner Melinda Tankard Reist has called for cancellation of his show. At the time of writing, promoter Live Nation have said that they have received no requests for refunds.


Beat writer and Comedy Festival Funny Tonne contestant Nick Taras is doing a series of videos for The Age. Aiming on seeing 150 shows this year at the fest, the man has almost hit the tonne, with his latest update coming in at 109 shows. VARIETY SHOWS: Comedy Pick ‘n Mix, Janet A Mcleod’s 30 minute sampler giving you a taste of the festival for cheap. With four acts on each show, at twelve dollars a ticket how can you go wrong? Tonight’s show features Gavin BaskervilleDougDanny McGinlay, and Ivan Aristeguieta. The show takes place at Three Degrees at the QV, tickets on sale now at TryBooking. Also back tonight is Aaaaaaaargh! It’s a bonanza of Festival Comedy from the UK, the showcase of British comedy at the festival. Tonight’s bill has Daniel Townes, Eric the Submariner, Abigoliah Schumann, and compere Nik Coppin. Check it out 6pm tonight at Red Violin, tickets from TixNoFee and at the door.


LATE NIGHT: But if you are one for staying up late, Festival Club is back at The Hi-Fi with a very special Golden Girls Tribute Night. Yes, you read that correctly – Golden Girls Tribute Night. Hannah GadsbyKate McLennanGeraldine HickeyAnne EdmondsWes Snelling and Harley Breen will be found at Festival Club, performing their favourite Golden Girls scenes. The grey hairs come out at 11.15pm, get your tickets on the door.


Also on late tonight: The After Party keeps things going, 10.30pm at the Exford Hotel, Ryan Coffey keeps it late and loud, 10.30pm at the Hairy Little Sista. Blernshaw Comedy gets it weird, 10.30pm at the Fad Gallery, and if you were lucky enough to get yourself a ticket, Daniel Kitson plays to a sold out crowd at the Tuxedo Cat, 11pm tonight.
