In today’s MICF Daily Update:

Special Event: The RAW Comedy National Grand Final takes place today at the Town Hall. Ronny Chieng will serve as MC, and the following people will be competing: Marc Ryan (SA), Michael Kelly (NT), Jennifer Burke (QLD), Katie Birch (NSW), Cyrus Bezyan (NSW), Kerri Gay (TAS), Matt Stewart (VIC), Megan McCrea (VIC), Simon Etheridge  (VIC), Matt Storer (WA), will a drop-in from RAW Comedy India winner Rohan ‘Danger’ Desai. 5pm today, tickets from Ticketmaster.

Daytime: If you can’t stay up late, a whole bunch of shows will be running during the day today. Family friendly shows kick things off with The Luck Child being the first at the Spiegeltent, 10am; with Monski Mouse following at 11.30am. Mr Snot Bottom will do his family friendly thing at the Town Hall from 11am, and the 13-Storey Treehouse will be at The Arts Centre at 11am and 2pm.

The (Very) Big Laugh Out returns to the City and Federation Squares today.  Today at the City Square Pitch: Yo-Yo Guy at 11.30am, and Sivouplait at 12.30pm. Then at 2.30pm, OzStar Airlines hosts the big show at Federation Square with Ong-als in Babbling ComedyYo-Yo GuySivouplait and Asher Treleaven. Entry is free.

Huggers Family Friendly Comedy & Cabaret starts at noon at the Exford Hotel.

At 1pm, choose from Comedy Club for Kids at the Spiegeltent, or Faulty Towers: The Dining Experience at the Aegean Restaurant. At 2.30pm, a special afternoon edition of Michael Winslow’s Police Academy Sound FX Show will be held at the Yarraville Club.

Xavier Toby’s comedy walking tour 2014: When We Were Idiots will be held at 3pm and 8pm by the Burke & Wills Statue at the City Square.Also at 3 – Trash Test Dummies and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. At 3.30pm, the The Best of British returns to the Exford and Improvilicious to the Town Hall.

At 4pm, Pop Mashup: Happy Birthday Doctor!Public Toilets, Private Lives, Huw Joseph, John Safran, and the final show for Shappi Khorsandi.

Finally at 5pm, musical DreamSong and another live edition of The Little Dum Dum Club.

Pop-UpsTripod‘s Scott Edgar returns with a one-off show this afternoon. Scott Edgar and The Universe, Scott’s band of tops musos will play two sets at Bella Union at Trades Hall. 3pm today, tickets from bellaunion.com.au and on the door.

Late NightThe Festival Club is in Haus Party mode with Die Roten Punkte hosting tonight at the earlier time of 10.15pm at The Hi-Fi. Also up late tonight: Ryan CoffeyLaura Davis, and The After Party. Check out the Comedy Festival website for a full list of all of today’s shows.
