Awards: The festival have announced their nominees for the Barry and The Golden Gibbo awards. The Barry, awarded to the best overall show at the festival have announced the following nominees: The Boy With Tape on his FaceJohn KearnsTim KeyDenise ScottKyle KinaneKraken and Celia Paquola. The Golden Gibbo, given to the best independent show have announced Rama NicholasStella Young, KrakenPajama PartyAndy Matthews and the Fancy Boy Variety Show. The two award winners will be announced at Festival Club on Saturday April 19.

RAW Comedy held it’s Grand Final last night at the Town Hall, and Matt Stewart of Victoria walked away as national champion. They will hop on a jet plane to compete in the So You Think You’re Funny? comedy competition at Edinburgh Fringe later this year. The event was taped, and will air on ABC2.

Special Events: Tonight’s special wrestling themed event The Wrestling takes place at the Melbourne Town Hall. Created by Max & Ivan, the show pits professional wrestlers against comedians in the ring. Pro wrestlers will duke it out against Max & Ivan as well as Lawrence MooneySam SimmonsRonny ChiengTommy LittleMatt OkineTegan HigginbothamDes BishopJason ByrneDavid Quirk and Greg Fleet. The show takes place at 8pm tonight, tickets from Ticketmaster.

Also on tonight, The Legal Comedy Debate. A lively one-off featuring lawyers going back and forth in a non-courtroom setting, the debate is back 6.30pm tonight at the Athenaeum Theatre. Tickets from Ticketek.

The Wheeler Centre will host Talking Comedians Writing Books tonight. Denise Scott and Corrine Grant will be joined by special guests talking about having their lols published in print. The free event takes place at 6.15pm tonight and is full, but a small amount of seats will be available at the venue tonight.
