– REVIEW WRAP: The reviewers at Beat have been out seeing shows this week, and Nick Mason has declared Stephen K Amos‘ show The Spokesman “an a-grade affair”. The run of good reviews for the Pajama Men has continued at The Herald Sun, with four stars being awarded to the duo. Four stars were also given to the Axis of Awesome. Over atThe Age, four and a half stars were given to the List Operators and their kids show The Listies 6D, and Comedy website Chortle have given the thumbs up to Steen Raskopoulos and Adam Rozenbachs.

 

– EXTRA SHOWS: A few extra shows have been announced for this weekend. Aamer Rahmen will perform extra editions of his new hour tonight and tomorrow at 6pm. Matt Okine has managed to sell out all his remaining shows, so he has added an extra show tomorrow night at 11pm. Tommy Little adds two late shows tonight and tomorrow at 6pm. And Tracy Morgan wraps things up with a late night Sunday show, 10pm at the Arts Centre. A full wrap of all of next week’s extras will be on the Sunday episode of MICF Daily.

 

– KIDS COMEDY: If your kids are dreading returning to school on Monday, why not treat them with some comedy today? The (very) Big Laugh Out has another edition at the City Square Pitch today from 1pm with Hilby followed by Hacki and Mappi at 2.30pm, then Pedro Tochas from 4pm. Then at Fed Square from 5.30pm you can see another edition on the big stage with Lords of StrutPedro TochasHilby, and Hacki and Mappi. Other kids comedy on at the fest today includes Mark TrenwithSquid StampMatty Grey, and the Comedy Club for Kids. Check out the festival website for a full listing of comedy for the kids.

 

– Beat writer and Comedy Festival Funny Tonne contestant Nick Taras is doing a series of videos for The Age. Aiming on seeing 150 shows this year at the festival, the bearded beast is a whopping 95 shows in and giving you his thoughts on every single one. – WALKING TOURS: Walking tours are no longer shows for the weekends, so head out after Friday drinks and get your feet a’shufflin. Xavier Toby and Micah D Higbed lead their walking tour 2013 – When We Were Idiots at 6pm tonight. Meet at the Bourke & Willis Statue in the City, tickets from TryBooking and by the statue. At 7.30pm tonight Jed and Jamie run This is History Melbourne: A Walking Tour – Involving Walking, A Questionable History of Melbourne. The tour departs from the Exford Hotel, get your tickets from the venue.

 

– FILM & TELEVISION: Plenty of comedy on the screens this weekend, big and small. Reel Funny: Red Hot Shorts; a collection of some of the wittiest short films ever made will be shown at ACMI in Federation Square from 7.15pm. Cinema Fiasco returns to Lygon Street arthouse theatre Cinema Nova tonight at 7.30pm with a screening of Australian horror favourite Houseboat Horror. On TV tonight, Comedy Up Late will air on ABC2 featuring Harley Breen, Nazeem Hussain, Michael Che, and Loretta Maine. Tomorrow, the 2013 Melbourne Comedy Festival All Stars Supershow will air on Network Ten. Hosted by Tom Gleeson, the special will feature acts such as Sammy JPete HolmesMike Birbiglia, and Ali McGregor. See it on Ten from 8.30pm.

 

– LATE NIGHTFestival Club brings in the weekend with another edition of Festival Bonanza. Tickets are $15 at The Hi-Fi Bar, doors open at 11.15pm.

– For a late night show with a difference, Soul Bank returns to the Tuxedo Cat tonight at midnight. Pat Burtscher and Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall host the proceedings, with music programmed by Steph Brotchie and featuring some of the festival’s weirdest and funniest comedy. Entry is free, pay what you feel on leaving.
